We’re digging deep into the cauldron to pick out this Witchy track. The Witch Queen Of New Orleans by Redbone was released in 1971 and is just that deep cut. Passed down to me about 10 years ago, instantly added and making its way up my favorite Halloween track. Redbone was a band that shared their vision of Marie Laveau a 19th Century Voodoo Practitioner referred to in the song as “Marie la VoodooVeau” will have you humming all October.
The song shows great influence to the style of New Orleans R&B and a wicked swamp style guitar lick. Brothers Pat and Lolly brought Redbone to the forefront. The song reached #2 on the UK Singles chart right behind Rod Stewart. Pretty Scary Stuff! Spin this one loud after you add it to the Halloween playlist!
