A Nightmare On My Street was a track off of DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince second studio album He’s The DJ, I’m the Rapper. It was considered for the Fourth Nightmare On Elm Street film, but the producers were against its use. But if you can get an opportunity to check out the amazing music video, in which because of it’s likeness to the film series, New Line sued Jive/RCA which was settled out of court.
The song samples Charles Bernstein’s Musical Motif from A Nightmare On Elm Street. The Fresh Prince addresses Freddy as Fred, which I still do. The track made it all the way to number 15 on the Billboard 100. A memorable track in many ways from the lyrics to the sample that definitely will get stuck in your head once it’s played at your Halloween Party this weekend.
