Alright, penguin fam — we did it. We hit our goal. We crushed our goal. But are we done?
Ha! Not a chance.
Because hunger doesn’t stop when the little bar on a website turns green. It doesn’t say, “Cool, I’m good, thanks.” It keeps going — and so do we.
⚾ How It Started
This all kicked off when our friends at All Sports Scene launched the White Sox Fans & Friends virtual food drive for the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Basically, a bunch of South Side maniacs (and us) teamed up to feed Chicago families.
And get this — together we’ve already raised over $15,000, which equals around 45,000 meals. That’s not just numbers — that’s people actually getting to eat this week.
The dream team includes some absolute Chicago legends:
All Sports Scene, CHGO White Sox, Sox on 35th, South Side Sox, Sox Machine, South Side Behavior, Chicago Sports Bums, FitzMagicEats, Herb Lawrence, From the 108, and of course, your favorite flightless troublemakers, Sadistic Penguin Studios.
We joined because it’s personal. The Chicago Tribune just ran a story about how food insecurity is exploding after the latest SNAP cuts, and families are feeling it hard. You see it all over the South and West Sides — lines wrapping around blocks just for basic groceries.
We can’t fix the system, but we can damn sure make some noise and feed some people while we’re at it.
