Hello Penguins, my name is Michael Cotton, otherwise known as the Cubes Fan on Bluesky, and the podcast I co-host called Son Ranto. I also have a stand alone baseball history podcast called Baseball Rabbithole. Both are on the Bleacher Bunch Podcast feed. That’s right, it looks like I am the DEI hire Cubs fan in the Sadistic Penguin Studio. You might not like that, but it will fit right in with my new column for Sadistic Penguins called “You’re Not Gonna Like This.”
You might be wondering what the hell is this guy thinking? He’s going to write a column about things I don’t like? That doesn’t sound like a great business decision.
Well, you’ve got me there. I’m known for saying things that other people don’t like. My takes and rants are legendary (in my own mind, annoying in listeners minds) because they go against the grain of the common takes. Sometimes, I’m wrong, and when I am, I don’t mind getting called out on it, but here’s the thing, I’m not wrong that often. I’m just ahead of the curve and it takes a bit for people to see what I was onto well before the idiot talking heads on TV start saying it.
So, what does all this mean in regards to this new column I’m writing? Well, pop culture is full of things that I’m constantly bumping up against as the “normal” when I think it really shouldn’t be normal. There are issues out there and I’m here to bring up these topics and make my arguments. I hope you will choose to engage with me and we can hash it out on the interwebs.
So, how about it Sadistic Penguins? You ready to let a Cubs fan write articles about pop culture that You’re not gonna like? I hope so, because that’s the shit I’m writing. I’ll be back soon to tell you why it’s all your fault.
Shout out to Yumper and Sugar Baggie for introducing me to everyone on At The Show, and for promoting my book, the Bleacher Bum Bible Book available on Amazon. It’s the greatest shitter book ever written. Short satiric takes on bible passages matched up with satiric takes on Cubs history. Maybe you don’t want a Cubs book, but somebody you know might, so send them to the link and it’s yours for $6.66 in paperback or a kindle version for $3.69.
