The original was recorded in 1962 by Ronnie Cook. The original was released on the Dore Record Label who was known for releasing novelty hits. By the time The Cramps grabbed hold of the track, they made it something special in it’s own.
The Cramps were known to put their own spin on often lost rock novelty classics. The lyrics describe a creepy monster lurking around the streets. Changing the lyrics to give off a more sinister meaning is what the band is an ace for.
